Cleaning up

Y'all think she is country enough to survive out here with me?

Not bad work.... for a woman. hahaha

Gittin 'er done!

Day After #1

All fun and games for the girls.

View from the road.

View from the house, that stream is where it ripped my culverts out.  Gravel level is down about 4 feet and strewn 100 feet into the yard.

Ramey Creek is on its way back down, still full.

Looking out over the River Valley.

Shed in the middle of the road with us directing traffic.

Finally we could walk down the road in the water and see the damage.

Another shot of my yard.

And the night fades into a nice foggy pink.

My fence acts as trash collector.

The water started to recede after about an hour.

Finally a shot of my "yard."  My house on the hill.

Flood May 2011 #3

And the shed finally comes to a rest in the middle of the road.

My house is on the right, just out of the picture.

We had to sit in the road directing traffic until 1 a.m. waiting on the County to show up to help move the shed.

This is the view of the road, off to the right is my driveway.

Flood May 2011 #1

So here we go again, water over the road due to 7 inches of rain in a single hour!  Not much explanation besides WOW! mother nature can be awesome.  Damage is minimal, but what is done is done.  No garden by the road this year.

Neighbor's shed before it was swept into the middle of the road.

Diamonds and Tractors

So this is it folks, another beginning, country style.

No staring, this is private time.

Heather talked our photographer into coming all the way to Vinton County to do an "engagement shoot" (or maybe it was my money that paid her). Anyway, she did a nice job of making our spring mud pit look pretty attractive.

Does she make me look old or do I make her look young? She says I just look experienced..... I say arthritic and wrinkled hahaha.

Softballs Aren't Soft

Turns out, these sports are dangerous hahaha. And the coach says, "Don't be afraid of the ball girls, it won't hurt you!" Next throw, off the tip of the first baseman's glove, smacks the right eye of the right fielder coming in for the backup......Ryann. She was a good sport though, played again at the next practice and again twice this week. Luckily she heals fast!
